Geographical position
Rivne region is located on the Western-Eastern part
of Ukraine. The territory of it is 20,1 th. sq. km.
Its territory from the West to East is - 130 km,
from the North to South is - 210 km, its borders of
verge are Zhytomyr, Khmelnitski, Ternopil, Lviv,
Volyn regions of Ukraine & Brest and Homel regions
of Belorus. By the administrative-territorial
division the region is including 16 districts, 4
towns of submission to region & 6 town of submission
to districts. The population of the region is 1, 2
ml. of peoples, or 2,3% from the population of
Ukraine. The middle condensation of population per
one sq. km. is - 59 people. The structure of
population of the region is: country - 52,5% from
general quantity, town - 47,5 %. The wooden found of
the region is 853 th. hectares, including wood
covered lands - 794 th. hectares, the general stock
of wood is more then 100 min. Rivne region is rich
in surface waters. There are counted 171 of rivers
at full length of 10 km every, more then 500 of
lakes, 31 water savings.
Mineral resources base
There were reconnoitered more then 600 deposits of
every treasures of soil of the regional sense such
as: building & decorative stone, chalk, kaolin,
field spared raw material, basalt, cement raw
materials, the big quantity of peat, sand, bricks
and tile raw materials, mineral and stale waters
etc., about of 100 deposits from which are
reconnoitering. At the last period are pointed out
the perspectives of finding out the industrial
deposits of phosphate raw materials and natural
cooper. The region is only one in Ukraine which has
two reconnoitered deposits of jeweler stone - amber,
which is developing by the State Enterprise "UKRAMBER".
Beside there is geological reconnoitering works at
the 3 platforms. From the 35 detailed reconnoitered
deposits of the building stone there are 19 in
process at present time. The surplus reconnoitered
stocks (500 min. m3) of building stone is providing
future development of given industry. There were
reconnoitered 8 deposits of the decorative stone
with general stocks of 16,5 min. m3 on the utmost
Eastern part of the region. Practice meaning has
decorative rosy & poor-blue granites of Klesiv and
Osmolin deposits, which are reconnoitering at
present time and can be used for plates, monuments,
memorials manufacturing etc. The reconnoitering of
granites can be widen more, so it can be increased
the mining of black decorative stone - Vyriv
diorites, diabases, gabroides. There is
reconnoitering of column basalt of Ivano-Dolinski
deposit, which is used in architectonic-building
items manufacturing too. There were reconnoitering
for butt & road metal 6 deposits at the territory of
region with the stocks of 45 min. m, 4 of them are
reconnoitering manual in quantity of 800 th. m3. The
world's practice as a result of national researches
allows using basalt more rational as a raw material
for producing high quality heat isolation materials,
stone casting. The items from basalt fiber are
perennial, are heat-acid steady, has the small
weight, as a reason of basalt fiber are opened up
researched the manufacturing of easy heat - sounds
isolation materials, which are used in ship and
plane constructing industry. There were found out 6
sections with not deep (till 20 m) deposits of
phosphorites with the general resources of
five-oxide phosphorus till 10 min. tons. The
researching of most perspective Milatyn section is
making since second part of the year 2000. Rivne
region has the possibility to create mineral-raw
materials basis of State importance on mining the
natural cooper in case of well financing during 3-4
years. There were spent 15 min. of hryvnyas for
researches of natural cooper deposits in year 2000.
These works are going to be continued this year. The
most perspective lines of researching of mineral-raw
materials basis of the region is: basalt complex
using, accelerating of works by amber mining,
development by the open method of agro ores -
phosphorites, enlarging of mining of the local raw
materials for building materials and the same time
researching of mineral waters.
Industrial complex
The leading part of material manufacturing in
general in the region takes the industry &
agriculture. There are totally 285 industrial
enterprises of all form of property in the region,
with the annual rate of production about 2 mins. of
hryvnyas, the working staff of it is 64,4 th. of
people. There were produced the goods by sum of 1
mird. 989 min. of hryvnyas in a year 2000 in
comparative prices; there were received increase
against of last year period by 3,8%. In the
structure of industrial manufacturing are composing:
electric energy- 15,5%, food industry - 6,2 %,
wooden & cardboard-paper industry -6,0%, machine
building & metal recycling -5,6 %, building
materials industry -4,8%, light industry - 1,2 %,
fuel industry - 0,2 %.
Besides the leading enterprises of the machine
building & metals recycling are the JV-s "Rivne
plant of the tractors aggregates", "Rivne plant of
the high voltage apparatuses", "Rivne radio &
technical plant". In the light industry are dealing
JV-s "Rivnelinen", its basis is the linen fabric to
industrial & household using, "Rivne factory of the
non-weaved materials", JV Radyvyliv sewed trade
Enterprise "Mayak". The chemical branch is presented
by JV "Rivneazot", which has the industry of
nitrogen & phosphate mineral urea, ammonia
synthetic, sulfuric acid, nitrogen acid, adipic acid
producing etc. There is the strongest Power Atomic
Station in the territory of the region, three
working blocks of it give the general energetic
power of 1880 mWatt. The leading place took forest &
wood processing industry, building industry. Among
them are working such as JV "Kostopil house building
combine", "Rivne match factory", "ODEK-Ukraine Ltd",
9 furniture factories, 17 stone mining & remaking
enterprises, JV "Volyn"' (Zdolbuniv cement roof
combine"). In the branch of food industry are
counting 5 sugar plants, enterprises by meat & milk
reproducing, canned goods plants, alcohol plants,
confectionery factory and others.
Agricultural complex
The region is famous by the difficult conditions
of the agricultural industry, as for its
Northern poliski districts. First of all that is
low lands possibility for growing, boggy swampy
& high humidity of the territory, high rate of
erosia in the territory of Southern districts,
little rate of contour of the lands, and
especially radioactive pollution as a reason of
the catastrophe on the Chomobyl Power Atomic
Station. All of that demand urgently need agro
technical works, melioration, anti erosia works,
nature protection, nature security &
organizational economical works for support the
productivity & agricultural. Agricultural
enterprises of the region have specialization on
growing up the cereals, potato, sugar beet, and
flax "dovgunets" & producing of meat and milk.
The middle quantity of staff occupied in
agriculture is 65 th.of people. In the total
structure of products of the agriculture (by the
all categories) the branch of cattle breeding
takes 43%; planetary -57%. At the agricultural
sector of the region is functioning 454 new
created agricultural enterprises on the private
basis, 481 country (farmers) households, more
then 200 private households of citizens. At that
about 9 th. of peasants expressed desire to join
their land certificates by general territory
more then 24 th. of hectares to private
households.

Rivne district belongs
to the group of

During the last year the
most intensive
development was observed
in glass packing sphere.
According to the last
year results the
enterprises of this
sphere enlarged the
volume of the production
in two times
comparatively to the
same period of the
previous year. At cost
of $25.8US that were
invested by the Canadian
Company and EBRD, the
most modern in Ukraine
and ICU production of
the glass packing on the
Joint Venture "AD-Zorya".
The quality of the
packing corresponds to
the European
requirements. At the own
expense and due to
financial help of the
Region Fund of the
Support and Development
of the internal
manufacture the
reconstruction of the
technical line on the
OJSC "Rokytnivsky glass
plant" is being carried
out. The availability of
the own raw materials
base contributes to the
development of the
sphere. On the territory
of the region the two
minefields of the
special geological type
quartz sand of the high
clearness are
discovered. The stocks
of the sand are 3.5
millions tons
